Lectures
Sanny de Zoete’s lectures allow you to benefit from her expertise and
share her passion for antique linen damask. The lectures can be held at
a venue of your choice or in Sanny’s shop in Delft.
The Hidden Treasure
Somewhere a linen cupboard opens…You are shown the most beautiful linen
table damask from the last four centuries with the most amazing patterns
ranging from war scenes to the image of God in a cloud. Sanny de Zoete
demonstrates the process of mangling and pressing linen, gives information
about the trousseau and show how linen appears on old paintings. This
lecture is suitable for groups of 12 people or more.
The Trousseau
Whilst sitting around a table you are shown the most beautiful, age-old
linen from Sanny de Zoete's extensive collection. This includes linen
table damask from the sixteenth century with a pattern showing the creation
of Adam and Eve and a particularly interesting mangling board made by
a man in 1665 for his bride-to-be. Sanny de Zoete explains why the trousseau
used to be so important to women in the past. This lecture is ideal for
women who are about to get married. The bride-to-be can bring her friends,
mother, mother-in-law and grandmothers so that three generations of women
can exchange their experiences. This lecture is suitable for small groups
of up to 12 people.
