Grid 2001
Dutch design, Irish linen
This design by the renowned artist Peter Struycken is inspired by ancient
geometric patterns in table linen, the so-called pellenpatronen. Sanny
asked the artist to design it especially for her own collection of table
linen. The basis of the design are wide and narrow stripes crossing each
other to create squares and rectangles. By mirroring and turning the basic
pattern it is enlarged to match the size of plates and cutlery. This ingenious
design shows a different aspect of the basic pattern in each corner of
the table cloth, together with the borders of the cloth a wonderful frame
is created.
What is special about this design is that the patterns are not repeated
or mirrored in the same way, something that was essential in the past.
Technically, the design of Grid 2001 would have been impossible to produce.
The napkin also has four different corners. The Grit 2001 design is
ideal for people who like modern and minimalist interiors.
Prince Willem-Alexander and Princess Máxima
received a set of table linen Grid 2001 as a wedding
gift from the editors and readers of the magazine Vorsten Royale. The
set consists of a table cloth of 3.60 m x 2.75 m with 8 matching napkins.
As with all linen damask from Sanny’s own collection, this set was also
woven especially for the wedding couple. Read
